The first foundation
                  of Canada

The Bishop Bourget invited the Sisters of the
Good Shepherd to come to Montréal and
establish a foundation. St Mary Euphrasia
     sent four sisters.

After a four-month travel by ship, they
arrived in Montreal on June 11, 1844
.
  The Sisters established many institutions
throughout Canada: in 1875 Toronto (Ontario),
in 1890 Halifax (Nova Scotia), in 1893 Saint   John (New Brunswick), and in 1911 Winnipeg   (Manitoba)

In   1846,    15 Sisters went on a mission and capital to the USA
1871    6 Sisters went to Peru
1872    6 Sisters found a house in Ecuador
1896    Several sisters went to Bolivia
1935    3 Sisters found a house in Japan.

Colombia, Cuba, Egypt, Algeria, Lebanon, France, Indian Ocean Islands, Senegal, and Italy are other countries to which Canadian sisters have traveled to help people in difficulty.

Given the vast size of the country, in 1944 it was decided to divide into two religious provinces in Canada. They were one in Montréal, for the
province of Quebec and the cities of Ottawa and Moncton, and the
other in Toronto, for the provinces of Ontario, Manitoba,
New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and British Columbia.
