  Two apartment houses that give women in difficulty
a stable and safe place to live.

A team of service workers on available daily,
in-person and telephone counselling services,
and supportive care and attention:

           * to help these women get back on their feet;

           * so they can take charge of their lives with a sense of independence and responsibility.

   "Portofino is a housing complex in northern Montréal
   for independent or semi-independent seniors and retired
     persons. I offer a service of availability
   to people living in the complex, and especially those who are experiencing difficulties. By giving my time, I hope to
bring a little hope into the hearts of people who need it.

     Living at Portofino also means sharing community, social and religious activities
        in this "village within the city." We develop relationships and show every person           our deep affection and tell them that they are precious in eyes of God.

                         Being available to carry out volunteer activities
                        in the surrounding housing complexes to carry
                         on the mission of the Good Shepherd with zeal
                          and creative faith."

    "Teenagers who have been wounded in their very first relationships
      need someone who believes strongly in them and who has faith
       to help them! When I was barely out of adolescence myself,
      I began helping young women who find it difficulty.

Now, Thematic Design Workshops help them find ways to
express their pain.

   I am very happy in supporting adults who are searching for meaning
   in their lives and who are turning in new directions. At every age,
     life poses great challenges."

"As a nurse by training, I am still able,
even in retirement, to help
young mothers and their babies. Many
are single mothers and most of them
are on welfare.

My mission is to love them! This means: together with a team
of workers, greeting them for "mother-child" meals, listening
to them, taking part in games and conversations with them, and
easing the loneliness of each one. Finally, as a resource person,
it means answering their questions.

In love, peace, and serenity, this multi-faceted work allows
me to pass on in my own way the goodness and tenderness
of Jesus the Good Shepherd."
