Retour à l'introduction!

"I was in prison and ye came unto me"
                                                                Matt 25: 36

Above all, to be a presence in daily life

Along with other volunteers, I provide liturgical services at Tanguay Prison.
Together, we try to meet the human and spiritual needs of the people
who are incarcerated. For those who wish to be heard, enlightened and
encouraged, or who want to strengthen their faith in the Lord, it offers them
a special opportunity to hold a dialogue or to share their experiences with us.

The Word of God in Matthew 25: 36 explains this presence fully.

"Ye came unto me"..., so we come to these women.

Through this presence at Joliette House, we get to know
each other and once that has happened, needs are expressed and
services are provided. For example, I will drive a child or teenager
to the institution so that they can visit their mother. I'll stay there for
the six hours that the visit lasts.

For me this is a vital, energizing experience. I learn a great deal from
these women and it is a joy to come back to them each week.

"At the age of 86, I feel blessed to count among my friends
homeless people, alcoholics, and afflicted people who are
unable to care for themselves. I feel so enriched
by these contacts: they help me realize the freedom I
have and experience the joy of sharing, bringing sunshine
into dark days, giving and receiving with great simplicity,
and appreciating things that have never before been
acknowledged. In short, to serve by making people happy
with a grateful thanks to the God of life."

"In June 2001, we closed our Port Cartier house. Regretfully, we had to leave this mission that was very dear to us"

GOOD-BYE! PORT CARTIER!

We have entrusted "our" Port Cartier to our Lord!
We had to leave despite all the bonds holding us there!
Bonds of fraternity with our imprisoned brothers
Bonds of tenderness with all those hurt children
Bonds of the Good Shepherd with all those we took in
and cared for there, and served and consoled!

We have entrusted "our" Port Cartier to our Lord!
And all those whom we helped,
And our devoted employees and their knowledge,
And the sisters from other congregations with their fraternal feeling
And all our friends whom we entrust to the Heart
    of our Good Shepherd

We have returned "his" Port Cartier to our Lord!
We entrust to him these 11 years of a mission of
     GOOD WORKS
And these women, over 200 of them taken into our hearts
In the spirit of Rose Virginie

We confide our regrets to the Heart of Jesus
But also our thanks for the work accomplished,
And these waterfront views that were a joy to see,
And the hope that his Sacred Heart will bear
       new fruit.
